<body>Child of God was originally launched in the summer of 2001. The name came years before from my concern over attaching my name to the tithe envelope that held my returns to God. I felt that the fact that I am a child of God was my only distinction and all the identity that I needed. Hence, rather than putting my name, which had the added benefit of a yearly receipt to deduct from my tax returns, I put cash in the envelope and simply wrote &#8220;Child of God&#8221;. As for the logo, it was divine inspiration. I tried for months to come up with something and one day as I sat in front of my computer, God sent it to me&#8230; that is the truth!

John 1 says, &#8220;In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God&quot;. As I contemplated the fact that the literal word of God has power because of its association with God, I was likewise reminded that we too have a similar relationship by virtue of His son Jesus Christ and it was then evident that by simply acknowledging and believing in this gift of kinship, we obtain not just His identity but His power.

It is this power to walk through the &#8220;valley of the shadow of death&#8221; without fear of evil, that I aimed to remind others of through Child of God. I just wanted to put something out into the world that the Holy Spirit could use to convict those that come into contact with it. It&#8217;s a ministry.

Remarkably God inspired our recent launch through a few sources. The main inspiration came in the form of a testimony that my Aunt Faye shared with me. It was about a young man at the height of dispair, anger, and hate who was prodded by the Holy Spirit to speak to Aunt Faye after he noticed her in a Child of God t-shirt one day. The conversations with Aunt Faye led him to give his life to Jesus.

Even though we are careful to design each product with our unique sense of style that allows the wearer to feel sporty, it is this story of words piercing the darkness of life and the transformation that occured, which accurately expresses what this ministry is about.</body>
